Monoprints/stampings by Marcie Vallette

In June 2011 I was invited to give art lessons to a class of 18 pony-clubbers, ranging in age from 7 to 14 years old. I decided to teach them to make their own stamps using meat packing styrofoam. We used water based inks and rollers on our styrofoam cut-outs, and we had a blast that day making horse art. The technique was so much fun that I decided to do it all summer, and to make stamps of other animals. Here are a few samplings of my frogs, baboons and cats. (Chickens, eggs and more coming when I get photos.)

UPCOMING SOLO AND 2-PERSON EXHIBITS: Louise von Wieise and I had been mono-printing together using her press. We both love this stamping idea, and we have worked together all summer towards our 2-person "animal show." She has done ducks and dogs. I have done baboons, cats and frogs, plus some chickens. Exhibit is coming soon to the Bistro and to Red Mill Gallery, Johnson Vermont. More info coming as the dates become more definite.
